Cooking with Cannabis

Cooking with cannabis can be a fun and enjoyable way to consume marijuana, but it is important to take some precautions to ensure that the finished product is safe and enjoyable to eat.

  1. Decarboxylate the cannabis: Cannabis must be decarboxylated (heated) in order to activate the THC and other cannabinoids. To decarboxylate cannabis, preheat your oven to 245°F (118°C) and place the ground cannabis on a baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.

To make cannabutter or cannaoil, melt the fat in a saucepan over low heat and add the decarboxylated cannabis. Simmer the mixture for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  3. Use low heat: THC and other cannabinoids can be damaged by high heat, so it is important to use low heat when cooking with cannabis. This will help to preserve the potency of the THC and other cannabinoids.
